Tourism is one of the major industries in Nagaland, given the beautiful vistas and rich flora & fauna. Covered by mountain ranges and gushing rivers, Nagaland has evergreen sub tropical and tropical forests. One can easily find Bamboo, Rattan, Palms and Mahogany. Elephants, tigers, leopards, rhinos, deers and monkeys claim their natural habitats. Nagaland is known for the great Indian hornbill and it’s long feathers are used in the traditional ceremonial dress.

Day 01

Meet your car and guide at Dimapur airport, after a normal briefing we shall drive to up to Kohima. Enroute stop at some small local bazaar, tea break, etc. On arrival check into your hotel. Evening at leisure.

Day 02

Today after breakfast we shall, explore cemetery, State, local bazaar. Later explore Kisama the venue where annual Hornbill Festival takes place, in this place you shall come across tribal huts built in respective ethnic designs. Later we  drive for 4 hours to Kigwema village where we still find traditional houses, keep their domestic animals under the same roof (with them). After the day activities we shall retrieve to your hotel for overnight

Kohima - Khonoma

Day 03

Morning after breakfast we shall drive for about an hour to Khonoma village, the first green village of the country. We shall come across ceremonial gates, morung, age-group house, meet local craftsmen, etc. Later we shall walk towards the terrace where we will have picnic lunch, do traditional fishing.

Day 04

Morning after breakfast we shall drive and walk to Dzuleke village. Enroute we shall see mithun (state animal) you may try to fit salt to this gentle animal, walk by the side of virgin forest breath clean thin air, etc. Later drive towards the buffer zone of KNCTS (Khonoma Nature Conservation & Tragopan Sanctuary) for picnic lunch in the jungle where we get to hear birds’ chirping.

Post lunch optional – you can drive or have a ‘Nature walk” down towards the village where you will come across herbal plants, collect wildly grown organic vegetables, visit Alder trees based cultivation which is the most sustainable way of slash and burn. After day activities are cover we shall drive back to Kohima

Today we shall drive to Dimapur to connect your flight for onward journey.
